Below is a serial number and feature list for Schwinn New World bicycles, 1938-1951. This is the current list of known bikes as of July 5, 2024. Click on each image to enlarge the size of the text and chart. Special thanks to CABE user "Miq" for compiling this list.
I just acquired a New World frame and fork. If you're the keeper of the registry it is K36163, black with top hat and schwinn new world clear. The headset it black out and the bottom bracket EF. The headbadge holes are vertical.
ReplyDeleteThank you for submitting that. It sounds like it had a less common head badge, if the holes are vertical. The standard New World had horizontal badge holes and a small, round badge. Submissions to the registry can be made here:

Thanks for posting this here Mike. Glad to see it reaching more people.
ReplyDeleteThank you for keeping the list going. It is not easy to maintain a list with this many bikes on it. The New World was common enough and durable enough that there are still a fair number around. I'm surprised there aren't more people customizing and riding these bikes. They're relatively inexpensive and can be made to work with anything from period 1940s-50s parts all the way up to much newer, lighter parts.
