Good Weather

The days are getting longer, and we had excellent weather this evening. It was a little cooler than normal, but perfect for some exercise. I took out this 1960s Schwinn Racer 3-speed to the local nature preserve. The leaves are now fully out, which means lots of shade. We also have plenty of biting bugs out now as well. The black flies are out in force, and soon the mosquitos and horse flies will join them. You have to keep moving if you don't want to get bitten this time of year.

The Schwinn does not appear to have come with the classic "Hat in the Ring" decal. But I really like the decal, so I bought a quality waterslide version from Bicycle Bones. If you follow the directions exactly, they apply to the bike reasonably well. They look a little more "traditional" than the vinyl sticky types, though the waterslide decals have their own challenges.

Anyway, I think the decal looks nice on the bike, and adds a "classic Schwinn" element.

Spring Turning to Summer

There's no sign to show spring is turning to summer than longer days and yellow-green pollen dust covering everything outside. This Raleigh roadster is no exception, though having green paint probably hides it a bit. Still, plenty of pollen and dust out there and now the biting bugs are starting in earnest.

But the weather has been pretty good lately, and it's always a good time for a ride with enough daylight to travel around.

Chilly Spring

We've had a chilly, damp spring here in New England. Hopefully the weather will warm a bit soon. I'm still enjoying this tall frame Schwinn Racer 3-speed.
