Autumn

We have been fortunate enough to have some pretty good weather so far this fall. We had a very rainy spring and summer, but the past couple weeks have been generally dry and mostly warm, at least for mid-October.

Autumn is probably the season most associated with New England, with the cooler weather, re-starting of fireplaces and woodstoves, bonfires, smell of smoke in the air, and of course the colorful leaves.

We're also losing daylight, which means keeping the LED batteries charged for riding vintage bicycles. It's important to be seen by cars, as well as being able to see the road yourself.

This red Schwinn Racer 3-speed matches nicely with Red Maples and Japanese Maples.

Pretty soon the days will be too short and riding will be confined to weekend afternoons, and eventually the snow will come and riding will be done for the season. But the repairs and indoor work on bikes will continue throughout the late fall and into the winter.
