The parts can...I like the FW four speed hubs a lot. The parts can be a challenge to find here in the US, but the extra low gear is a nice addition. You're right about getting a good, strong shifter for them, especially when going into bottom gear. It's nice that the shifters can be taken apart and rebuilt at least. NOS triggers are the best but check out Sturmey Archer tips and tricks for the overhaul on YouTube. That is with new spring and Ratchet plates that work like a charm.
